Terms of Use
Effective October 23, 2026 · Version 2026-10-23
The short version. Study Desk is free. A parent or guardian sets it up and is responsible for how their children use it. The study helper can make mistakes, so check its cards. Your students’ work stays on your tablets, so keep a backup. Deleting a student or your account can’t be undone.
1. Who can use Study Desk
Study Desk is provided by CodeBreeder LLC. You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of the children who use it (or have their permission) to create a family account, add students, or turn on the study helper. Children use Study Desk under your supervision. By creating an account or setting up a tablet, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.
2. Your family account
- Use an email address you control. Anyone who can read that inbox can sign in.
- Set a parent PIN and keep it from your children. Your synced devices share the same PIN. It is a simple lock, not strong security.
- Add each student with a first name or nickname only.
- Tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Your content
Homework photos, typed text and study cards you add stay yours. You give us permission to process them only as needed to run the features you use, such as sending a photo to the study helper to make cards. Only add homework you have the right to use for your family’s studying. Don’t upload anything unlawful, hateful, or that includes other people’s private information.
Feedback. If you send us feedback, ideas or test results, we may use them to improve Study Desk without owing you anything for them. Please leave your children’s names out of feedback.
4. The study helper, natural voice and spoken answers
The study helper, natural voice and spoken answers are optional, use AI services (see the Privacy Policy), and stay off until a parent confirms consent by email and turns them on. Speech recognition can mishear an answer; a student can always type instead, and a parent can correct progress in Parent view. AI can misread handwriting, give a wrong answer or explanation, or make a card that doesn’t match the homework. Always check the cards before studying, and treat the helper as a study aid, not a teacher or a source of grades. There is a daily limit on helper uses per family to keep the service free; the limit may change.
5. Data on your devices and sync
Students’ information, cards and progress are saved in each device’s browser storage. Devices signed in to your family account keep each other up to date through an encrypted copy that only your devices can unlock. Keep your recovery key safe: if you lose every device and the recovery key, we cannot restore your data. Homework photos are not synced. A device set up without an account keeps its data only on that device; save a backup file from Parent view if you want a copy. Backup files are not encrypted, so keep them private.
Removing a student erases all of that student’s information from every synced device. Deleting your account removes your account and the encrypted copy from our server and erases your devices. Neither can be undone; you would have to start over.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse Study Desk: don’t try to break or overload it, get around the daily limit, access other families’ accounts, copy or resell the service, or use the study helper for anything other than studying.
7. Free service, changes and ending
Study Desk is free and is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may change, pause, or stop any feature, including the study helper and natural voice, at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these Terms. You can stop using Study Desk and delete your account at any time. Accounts not signed into for two years are deleted automatically.
8. Disclaimers and limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, CodeBreeder LLC gives no warranties about Study Desk, including that it will be error-free, always available, or improve grades, and is not liable for indirect or consequential damages or for lost data. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the date above and, for important changes, ask you to agree again in the app.
